Older Dogs Available

This page will occasionally be updated with any older dogs that we may be looking to rehome as they retire from our program, or any dogs that may need to be rehomed from our previous litters due to a variety of circumstances.

If you are interested in taking one home, please fill out the form at the bottom of this page or email us at welshfamilyaussies@gmail.com. We will respond in the order that we receive messages. The steps required will be listed below

  • Email us and let us know which dog you are interested in.

  • We will send you our application (which takes less than 10 minutes) which allows us to get to know if you are a good fit for that specific dog.

Jasper

Red Merle Male - Two brown eyes and has a long tail and is already neutered.

Some may recognize this cutie, this is Jasper, previously Reeces from Rylee and Milo born on Halloween almost three years ago. He is looking for a new home due to needing some extra training that his owners do not feel they can provide for him after a few incidents. He has some issues with resource guarding especially when it comes to food, and has learned that he can get his way with specific behaviors such as biting. He will need new owners that are willing to put the time and energy into training him around food, other dogs and people, while being patient with him as he gets trained on these things. It is something a prospective family needs to be aware of and willing to work through.

He is extremely smart, loving, and playful, does great on leash and is comfortable riding in cars. He is also house trained, but has been living as an outside dog for the last year due to the owners moving with family.

We have met up with him and his family to asses the situation recently. He did great for the most part but we got to see a couple of his triggers to which he responded with some bites that were little snaps (not bites that latch on), which came with little to no warning. He was fantastic on leash with just us, is VERY food motivated (which is part of our recommended training to correct his behaviors), and is very loving.

We are looking for a new home for him that has no other pets, no children, and preferably one person that works from home so that he can get regular attention, exercise, training, and interaction. We do think a lot of this behavior is reversible with the proper training, but we don’t expect him to not have incidents. He needs an owner who is ok being assertive, won’t be timid with him, but who loves him and wants to put in the time with him to bring his best side back out. He has historically been good with other dogs, but as he can be a bit reactive without warning, and resource guards, we feel that being the only dog and not being in a house with kids is an important thing for him for everyone’s well-being.

If you are potentially interested in him please reach out to us through this page and we can give you more details about his situation and see if you may be a good fit to go through the rehoming process. We will work with the adoptive family to address these issues, give you an idea of the issues/triggers we have seen (as well as what his current family has told us), and really hope that we can see improvement quickly to get him back to his best.
